We had music in the cafe on Sept 7, which also happened to be Tom's fifty-seventh birthday. Dennis Delorme of Prairie Oyster and Cris Cuddy played and we had lots of people for dinner and it was a lively fun-filled evening.
It has been a very busy summer with lots of tourists and shoppers and diners and we have been working non-stop since the May long weekend.

Here's Martien and Tom at the house site on Tom's first day off work at our inn since May. He was going to play golf and we decided to drive up and see the new house.

Martien's house will be very modern with in-floor radiant heating and all on one floor. It looks out over the second hole on the golf course which is just outside of Eganville.

Meanwhile, at the golf course, Martien is building his new house, trying to get the walls and the roof up before the weather gets too cold.

Martien's daughter has been doing well in different golf tournaments, and so we are hoping she might be able to get a golf scholarship to a university in a warm place..like California or Texas.

Here is Candace with the new baby. He is about half an hour old in this photo. They have a new birthing room at the Pembroke hospital so Candace's mother and Carolyn and other family members were able to be present. It was a beautiful day and because Opa was downstairs, there were lots of us at the hospital to keep them both company.

a new Zomers to add to the family

At six oclock on Sept 18, Carter Lambert Zomers was born. Here is his father Kirk Zomers. We now have four generations of Zomers....Harry Zomers, Tony Zomers, Kirk Zomers and Carter Zomers.

Bert and Oma in the hospital

Oma and Bert went to the hospital with Opa in the morning and we spent the day waiting for some medical tests. Chris and Jason arrived and Tony and Carolyn and Kirk and me, Joanne, and so we all sat around in Opa's room and made a lot of Zomers type noise and clutter and the usual stuff.

Opa in het ziekenhuis

Opa wasn't feeling well so we decided to take him to the hospital for a check up. It was nothing serious but he was feeling dizzy and we thought we should make sure there was nothing wrong.
It was the same day that Candace who lives with Tony's son Kirk was in the hospital to have her second baby...so we visited Opa and then went to see Candace upstairs in the maternity ward.
